Lachell ties for second place at McDaniel

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. -- Senior Jennifer Lachell finished in a tie for second place individually over the weekend as Nazareth opened its spring golf schedule by competing at the McDaniel Spring Invitational at the Bridges Golf Club.

Lachell had scores of 89 and 86 on the par-72 layout to finish with a 175 total to tie her with Michelle Klein and Marissa Suder of Washington & Jefferson and Laura Gay of St. Lawrence. Claire O'Neil of St. Lawrence was the medalist with rounds of 84 and 77 for a 161 total. Nazareth finished in fifth place of the two-day event with scores of 602 and 588 for a 1190 total. St. Lawrence won the team title with scores of 350 and 340 for a 690 total.

Hannah Darr (147-143--290), Alexis Bucklin (151-187--338) and Julia Barrett (215-172--387) also competed for the Golden Flyers.

Nazareth's men's golf team also competed and finished in 17th place with scores of 353 and 346 for a 699 total. St. John Fisher won the team title with scores of 315 and 308 for a 623 total, one stroke better than Franklin & Marshall (321-303--624).

Sophomore Jonathan Gerken and senior Daniel Strack finished tied for 69th place individually. Gerken had rounds of 88 and 85 on the par-72 layout for a 173 total. Strack had rounds of 87 and 86. Junior Caleb McGuire (86-88--174); senior Andrew Lund (93-87--180) and junior Sean de Herder (92-89--181) also competed for the Golden Flyers.
