Updated statsROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Brockport jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first half and never trailed Friday against Nazareth in a 12-9 women's lacrosse victory over the Golden Flyers on the artificial turf field. The loss was the first of the season for the Golden Flyers, who dropped to 4-1 overall. Brockport improved to 2-2.

Brooke Sullivan scored twice and added an assist for Nazareth and sophomore
Jamie Martin also contributed two goals. Nina Tassone had four goals for Brockport and Ciara McKeon scored three times.
Brockport scored twice within the first five minutes -- goals by Jessica Boddery and Tassone -- to take an early lead, before Martin scored Nazareth's first goal at 12:37. The Golden Eagles answered just 17 seconds later on a goal by Courtney Szczesniak.
Sullivan's 11th goal of the season with 6:55 left in the half pulled Nazareth to within 3-2, but Tassone scored for Brockport 53 seconds later to touch off a four-goal outburst that ended with the Golden Eagles in command at 7-2. Senior
Bri Mancini delivered a goal for Nazareth on a free-position shot to close the gap to 7-3 before halftime.

Kate Rothrock brought Nazareth to within 8-5, but Brockport then scored three times within a span of 1:17 to pukll away again. Nazareth closed the game by scoring four of the last five goals, but it wasn't enough. Martin and Sullivan each scored during that stretch as did junior

Leah Marvin.
Senior
Ashley Kirch played all 60 minutes in goal for Nazareth and made four saves. Remle Harr had six saves for Brockport, which had slim advantages in shots (24-23), ground balls (15-13) and draw controls (14-9).
Nazareth looks to get back on the winning track Saturday with a non-conference home game against the University of Rochester at 1 p.m.
