Updated StatsROCHESTER, N.Y – The Nazareth College men's soccer team hosted Hobart College in non-conference action on Tuesday, falling victim to the Statsesmen by a 4-0 margin.
Hobart was able to establish possession from the start and outshot the Golden Flyers 10-1 in the first half.
The Statesmen broke through in the 19
th minute as Tyler Teren's cross came off a Nazareth defender and into the lap of Zach Poretz for a tap-in goal.
Although only managing just the one shot in the half, Nazareth generated a quality opportunity.
Christian Barrientos played a low shot outside of the box, forcing the Hobart goaltender to make a save.
Hobart scored three goals in the second half in less than a 15 minute span, starting in the 59
th minute off a corner kick. Mitch Palmer made it 3-0 in the 68
th minute and Mouhamed Diouf closed out the scoring in the 72
nd minute.
Nazareth, however, continued to push for a goal late into the contest. Barrientos played a ball back to
Ben Rodney in the 80
th minute as his shot was blocked by a defender. Shortly after, Nick DiPaulo flicked a left footed shot wide of the net.
Alex McLean played 66:48 in net, surrendering two goals and registering three saves.
Nate Ripic played 23:12, giving up two goals, while making one save.
Nazareth returns to action on Saturday when it will host Elmira College for a 3 p.m. contest.
