Tournament siteONEONTA, N.Y. – The Nazareth College volleyball squad completed day two of the Hartwick Invitational Saturday, opening with a 25-13, 25-16, 25-23 over SUNY Delhi before falling 10-25, 20-25, 25-23, 20-25 to Union College.
With the split, Nazareth moves to 13-9 on the year.
To open the day Nazareth came out strong in its first match hitting .470 in the opening set to register 16 kills.
Freshman
Celia Cordero hit .380 and led the way with 12 kills while also collecting eight digs.
Fellow classmate
Margorie Didas had eight kills of her own on a .620 attack percentage.
Cady Messmer collected a team-high nine digs.
Mallory Cobb contributed six kills as well.
Stephanie Colao dished out 13 assists.
In game two
Jennifer Hicks finished with a team-high 11 kills. Messmer and Freshman
Carmen Sapp combined for 13 kills.
Maureen Thayer ended the game with 29 assists and a team-high 13 digs.
Messmer was named to the All-Tournament team for Nazareth.
Nazareth returns to action on Wednesday when it will host the College at Brockport at 7 p.m. for non-conference action.
