Updated statsROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Alfred scored three times in the first half and went on to a 4-0 men's socer victory over Nazareth in an Empire 8 Conference game at Golden Flyer Stadium Saturday.
The Saxons remained unbeaten in conference play at 2-0-1 and improved to 7-1-2 overall. The Golden Flyers dropped to 0-11 overall and 0-3 in Empire 8 action.
Alfred's Oumar Soumahoro scored seventh and eighth goals of the season before the game was 15 minutes old to give the Saxons an early advantage. Richard Lander assisted on Soumahoro's second goal and also had an assist on James Piombino's goal in the 20th minute that gave Alfred a 3-0 lead.
Aidan Calkins accounted for the Saxons' fourth goal in the 70th minute.
Alfred had a 25-15 edge in shots and a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Chris Gutierrez and Mtthew Unick played in goal and combined for the shutout bny making 10 saves. Freshman
Alex McLean played all 90 minutes for Nazareth in goal and made 12 saves.

Ben Rodney each had three shots for the Golden Flyers, who play at home again Tuesday in a non-conference game against Hobart at 4:30 p.m.
