Updated StatsUTICA, N.Y. – The Nazareth College women's soccer team hit the road Friday, picking up their first Empire 8 Conference win, with a 2-0 victory over the host Pioneers.
With the win, Nazareth moves to 7-1-2 on the year and 1-0-1 in conference play, while Utica falls to 2-7-2 and 0-3, respectively.
Nazareth established the pace from the beginning, outshooting the Pioneers 11-1 in the first half and 21-3 in the game.
It took until the 60
th minute for the Golden Flyers to break through the Pioneers defense.
Briana Vibbard played a ball back to
Rachel Dise near the top of the box and the sophomore was able to slide it past the Utica goalkeeper.
That goal helped spur Nazareth, as just over two minutes later, the Golden Flyers were at it again. This time, Vibbard was on the other end of the goal, putting in a rebound off a
Danielle Wilkin shot.
Allison Dobles started in net for Nazareth before being relieved by
Mackenzie Dunphy in the second half. Dunphy made one save for the Golden Flyers.
Nazareth returns to action on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest at Alfred University.
