Updated StatsROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Nazareth College field hockey squad scored three goals in each half to take down non-conference opponent Morrisville State, 6-2, on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, Nazareth moves to 5-8 on the year while the Mustangs fall to 2-10 on the year.
Senior
Maggie Muzio scored her first goal of the season 6:11 into the contest on an assist from
Kristina Back.
Back was at it again, this time on the goal scoring end, notching a tally at the 12:34 mark for a 2-0 lead. Nazareth made it 3-0 at 23:16 as
Leah Good played in a shot which was re-directed by
Gabrielle DiSanto for the goal.
Although only mustering five shots in the first half, the Mustangs were able to notch a tally with just :36 seconds left to make it 3-1 at the break.
In the second half
Catherine Willard scored her 10
th goal of the season off an assist from
Megan Paris less than five minutes in.
The Mustangs were able to cut the lead in half shortly after on score from Allyson Flurer.
Following a Nazareth timeout, Willard went right down the field to score her second goal of the game and push the Golden Flyers lead to 5-2.
Freshman
Meg Beiter scored her first-career goal at 68:10 for the final goal of the game.
Lauren Devine started in net for Nazareth, playing 65:23 and making five saves. Freshman
Abby Farnham closed out the game in net.
Nazareth returns to action on Wednesday when it will travel to Wells College for a 4 p.m match.
