Nazareth races at Hamilton Invitational

Women place 2nd; men finish 3rd

HAMILTON, N.Y. -- The women's and men's cross country teams were in action again on Saturday when the Golden Flyers traveled to Hamilton for the Hamilton Short Course Invitational. Nazareth's women's team placed second in the 4-kilometer race behind the top performances of junior Gabrielle LeBihan and sophomore Emily Thompson who finished second and third, respectively. Freshman Kevin Witt was the top Golden Flyer in the men's 6-kilometer race with a 13th-place finish.

In the women's meet, the Continentals claimed first as they finished with 30 team points, followed by Nazareth's 45 points, and Siena's 51 points.

LeBihan's second-place time was 15:35.3 while Thompson finished moments later with a time of 15:51.6. Sophomore Jamie DiSalvo was Nazareth's next runner as she finished 11th (16:45.8), and she was followed by junior Robin Wagner in 14th (16:57.5) and freshman Claire Ludington in 15th (16:59.7). Freshman Kimmy Lovett was 19th overall (17:06.5) while junior Blair Meeson was 23rd (17:21), senior Michaela Gildemeyer was 25th (17:23.2), freshman Andrea Larnard was 26th (17:23.7), and senior Kassandra Lathrop was 34th (19:03.2).

Like the women's meet, the men from Hamilton also took first in the men's meet. Hamilton won the men's meet with a score of 21, followed by Siena with 34 team points, and Nazareth with 83.

Witt's time was 20:24.9 to lead the Golden Flyers. Neureuter was the second Nazareth finisher for the men, placing 21st with a time of 21:36.2. Sophomore Jacob Murray was 23rd (21:47.3), classmate Matt Battaglia was 25th (21:55.5), and fellow sophomore Thomas Lannon was 26th (22:17.3). Freshman Kristopher Newell (23:39.4) and sophomore Ethan Osborne (24:24) rounded out the Golden Flyers' runners in 28th and 29th place, respectively.

The Golden Flyers' next race is September 26th at the University of Rochester Invitational.
