Nate Ripic made eight saves including two point-blank saves in the second half to maintain Nazareth's lead.
With the victory, the Golden Flyers improve to 2-1 overall.Following the loss, the Lakers drop to 1-3 overall.
Nazareth's goals were separated by only 3:46, which provided the Golden Flyers a quick two-goal lead midway through the first period. Amar tallied the first goal after receiving a cross from Miles, which Miles placed directly in front of the Oswego goal. Amar scored his goal 28:15 into regulation. A few minutes later, Miles scored an unassisted goal. The scoring chance was set up by sophomore
Dylan Toscano's shot, which forced goalkeeper Todd Lawson to make a diving save. Miles kicked the loose rebound into the open Lakers' net.
The Golden Flyers also had scoring chances in the second half but were unable to convert. Grad student
Ryan Foley had a scoring opportunity but was unable to put his shot on goal. Foley finished with a game-high six total shots, including three on goal. Sophomore
Lucas Bennett had five total shots, including four on net. Lawson recorded a game-high 11 saves to keep Oswego in the contest.
Ripic was credited with eight saves, including three in the second half. On two occasions, Ripic deflected point-blank shots over the crossbar to thwart Lakers' scoring chances.
Nazareth finished with a 20-17 advantage in total shots while Oswego held an 8-7 edge in corner kick chances. The Lakers had seven of their eight corner kicks in the second 45 minutes.
The Golden Flyers are in action again on September 13th when they travel to Skidmore for a non-conference game. Nazareth returns home to play Fredonia on September 16th in another non-conference contest.
