Golden Flyers resume Empire 8 Conference play Saturday at Alfred

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host RIT dominated Nazareth Tuesday in a non-conference men's soccer match. The Tigers built a 2-0 lead at halftime, then cruised to a 5-0 victory over the Golden Flyers at Tiger Stadium.

RIT improved to 2-5-1 overall, while Nazareth dropped to 2-5 overall with its fourth straight defeat. The Golden Flyers resume their Empire 8 Conference schedule Saturday at Alfred at 7 p.m.

Tuesday's game was scoreless until the 28th minute, then RIT's Dean Kouroupus scored his first of two goals. Tristan Scott scored his first goal of the season less than nine minutes later to give the Tigers a 2-0 advantage before halftime.

RIT continued to dominate in the second half as the Tigers scored twice within a 19-second span in the 49th minute. Kouroupus scored again at 48:17, then Danny Bloshkin followed with his first goal of the season at 48:36. The scored remained 4-0 until the 83rd minute when Connor Wesch scored unassisted for the Tigers.

Nazareth managed just three shots -- one each for James Wheeler, Lucas Bennett and Darby McDermott. RIT keeper Mark Reeves was called upon to make just one save. RIT, meanwhile, had 28 shots. Sophomore Nate Ripic made two saves before being relieved in the second half by freshman Diego Abreu, who made four. Nazareth played without its leading scorer, Ryan Foley, who is out with a groin injury.

RIT leads Nazareth 25-6-5 in the all-time series and has won the last three meetings.
