ROCHESTER N.Y. – The Golden Flyers earned a 10 - 5 victory over the Hartwick Hawks Saturday afternoon in an Empire 8 women's home lacrosse match.
 
The victory improves Nazareth's record to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference. The loss drop Hartwick to 4-8 overall and 0-4 in the conference. Eight different players scored the Golden Flyers, led by junior Brooke Sullivan with three goals. Other goal scorers were junior Briana Mancini, senior Amy McIntosh, sophomore Carly Gates, freshman Emily Rothrock, freshman Gabrielle Charles and junior Suzie Gray.

The first goal game came in the fourth minute of the first half. Nazareth's Mancini picked up a rebound and snuck the ball past the shoulder of Hartwick's Steph Luce. Within less than a minute, the Hawks fired back with a goal from Ali Sisco. Nazareth fought back and scored a second goal five minutes later when Emily Rothrock sailed a pass across the arc to teammate Sullivan, who fired the ball to the back of the net.

The Golden Flyers continued to fight hard when Sullivan buried her second goal of the game from teammate Kelsey McNaboe. In the 18th minute the Hawks earned their second goal, and later equalized the game in the 20th minute when Lauren Rosenberg snuck the ball past the foot of Tara Prosak on a free-position shot. Hartwick took its only lead of the game when Sisco scored on a free-position shot with seven minutes remaining in the half. Nazareth's McIntosh tied the game at 4-4 with an assist from McNaboe. The Golden Flyers closed the first half with a goal from Gates, assisted by Gray, and Nazareth never trailed again.

Nazareth began the second half when McNaboe scored her first goal of the game assisted by Emily Rothrock. About three minutes later Kate Rothrock scored, giving the Golden Flyers a three-goal advantage over the Hawks at 7-4. Nazareth kept their offensive intensity high when Charles drove to the goal and tucked the ball neatly in the top corner of the net. Hartwick fought back when Hartwick's Emily Jweid ran though Nazareth's defense and beat Prosak for the Hawks' fifth goal. Minutes later Nazareth's Gray scored on a free-position shot increasing the score 9-5. Sullivan scored her third goal of the game in the 58th minute, assisted by Gray. The Golden Flyers sealed their win, ending the game 10-5 over Hartwick.

Nazareth had a 37-15 advantage in shot and a 9-8 edge in draw controls. Luce made 15 saves in goal for Hartwick, while Prosak made six saves for Nazareth.

Nazareth's next game is Saturday at home against Ithaca at 1 p.m. The Golden Flyers also host Utica the following day at 1 p.m.
