WEEHAWKEN, N.J. -- Host Stevens swept an Empire 8 Conference softball doubleheader from Nazareth Sunday as the Ducks improved to 27-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play with 2-1 and 4-0 victories over the Golden Flyers.

Nazareth completed its conference schedule at 3-9. The Golden Flyers are 8-20 overall. Nazareth visits Oswego Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader at 3 p.m.

Nazareth managed only five hits all afternoon -- three in the first game and two in the second -- as the Golden Flyers were unable to benefit from solid pitching outings by Mary Greco in the first game and Nicole Bayona in the second. In the first game, Greco pitched six innings and allowed only four hits and struck out two.

Stevens scored once in the third inning following a two-out single by Danielle DeFeo and a triple by Gavriella Risman-Jones. Stephanie Senkevich added an RBI single for the Ducks in the fourth. Nazareth sliced the lead in half in the fifth inning as junior Sophia Rhoades slugged a solo home run, her third of the season. The score went unchanged even though Nazareth left two runners stranded in the sixth inning. Kayla Berardi earned her 15th pitching win of the season on a three-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Berardi pitched again in the second game and recorded the two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts. Stevens' Emily Sellitti backed that effort with two hits, including a solo home run. Nazareth had only an infield single by Kailey Ritch in the first inning and a single to centerfield by Sarah Cipperly in the sixth.
