Nazareth Completes Day 1 of McDaniel Invitational

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA. -- Nazareth's men's golf team battled the challenging conditions of first day of action at the McDaniel Invitational on Saturday. Juniors Andrew Lund and James Sergeant led the Golden Flyers in 62nd-place with an 86 and tied for 63rd-place with an 87, respectively. Play became much more difficult as the day continued.

The only team to break a score of 320 in the afternoon was York. York currently stands in third-place overall with a score of 315. St. John Fisher is currently in first with a score of 305, followed by Rochester with a score of 307. SUNY Delhi finished with a score of 317, which was followed by a total of 320 by New York University. Following the first day of competition, the Golden Flyers stand in a tie for 16th with a score of 359.

Following Lund and Sergeant, senior Ben Waldman recorded a score of 90 to stand in a tie for 75th-place. Classmate Nick Polito and junior Daniel Strack each carded a 96 to claim a tie for 83rd-place.

The second day of the McDaniel Invitational is scheduled for Sunday. Sunday's schedule is dependent on the weather and course conditions.

Following the McDaniel Invitational, the Golden Flyers travel to the Gettysburg Invitational, April 5th-6th.
