Updated StatsGENESEO, N.Y. -- Eighth-seeded Brockport jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first 10 minutes of play Saturday and never trailed against Nazareth in the fifth-place men's basketball consolation game of the Wendy's College Classic. The Golden Eagles cruised to an 82-62 victory to improve their overall record to 3-4. Nazareth dropped to 2-3.
Brockport's Patrick Modzelewski erupted for a game-high 36 points and set a tournament record by sinking 11 three-point shots. He scored 24 of his points on eight three-pointers in the first half as Brockport was building a 44-33 advantage, from which Nazareth couldn't recover. Junior

Jack Mulcahy hit a three-pointer with 11:29 to go in the first half to draw the Golden Flyers to within one point, 16-15, but Modelewski hit a three-pointer on the Golden Eagles ensuing posession to trigger a 10-point scoring spree that ended with Brockport in front 26-15.
Nazareth stayed within striking distance early in the second half and were within nine, 51-42, following a bucket by Mills with 15:05 left. Modzelewski answered again with yet another three-pointer and the Golden Eagles maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Nazareth made 20 of 51 shots overall (39.2 percent) and went 4 for 13 from three-point range. The Golden Flyers were 18 for 29 from the free-throw line (62.1 percent). Modzelewski made 11 of Brockport's 12 three-pointers. The Golden Eagles also went 26 for 58 from the field (44.8 percent) and 18 for 19 from the foul line (94.7 percent).
Nazareth is idle until after Christmas when the Golden Flyers travel to Thousand Oaks, Calif. to compete in the Cal Lutheran Tournament. Nazareth plays Illinois Wesleyan on Dec. 29. Cal Lutheran and Fontbonne also are competing.
