Elizabeth Howell scred two goals and junior
Danielle Wilkin also scored for visiting Nazareth in the second half Saturday as the Golden Flyers remained unbeaten in Empire 8 Conference women's soccer action with a 3-0 victory over Elmira.
It was the third straight shutout for the Golden Flyers, who have now gone more than 300 minutes without yielding a goal. Nazareth improved to 8-2-1 overall and 3-0 in the Empire 8. Elmira is 3-4-2 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play.
Saturday's game was scoreless in the first half, then Nazareth turned up the tempo in the second half by outshooting Elmira 17-3 while scoring all three goals. The Golden Flyers applied significant pressure to start the half and Howell broke through in the 52nd minute off an assist from junior
Briana Vibbard.
Exactly 19 minutes later, Wilkin was opportunistic as she stripped an Elmira defender of the ball and fired a shot that caromed off the bottom of the crossbar and crossed the goal line. Howell's second goal of the game and fourth of the season came in the 87th minute and helped by sophomore
Michaela Soules, who has a team-best five assists.

Allison Dobles, who made four saves for her third shutout of the season. Nazareth had a 26-8 edge in shots overall and a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks. Gabe Carmona made 10 saves for Elmira.
Nazareth continues conference play with two games next weekend. The Golden Flyers host Hartwick Saturday at 12 p.m. and travel to Ithaca Sunday at 2 p.m.
