CANTON, N.Y. -- Junior forward Catherine Willard scored her third goal of the game following a penalty corner with 1:55 to go in regulation time, lifting the visiting Golden Flyers to a 3-2 non-league NCAA Division III field hockey win over St. Lawrence on North Country Field Saturday afternoon.

Willard's goal, her team-leading 13th of the season, enabled the Golden Flyers to snap a six-game losing streak and lifted their overall record to 7-10. The Saints fell to 5-9.

The Saints outshot Nazareth 14-5 in the second half and spent the bulk of the period in the Nazareth end of the field, but the Flyers put the pressure on in the final two minutes, getting both of their second-half penalty corners and finally converting when Willard took a pass from Maggie Muzio and fired a shot toward the cage. The ball glanced off the post and while it appeared that Saint defender Carly Dziekan had blocked the ball out of the air on the goal line, officials ruled it a goal and the Flyers came away with the win.

St. Lawrence grabbed the early lead in the game as Sam Haab scored her fifth of the year when she picked up a rebound of a shot by Anna Hughes and put it back past Nazareth goalie Lauren Devine 15:36 into the game.

Willard then scored two goals just under two minutes apart to put the Flyers up 2-1. Her first was unassisted and came in a scramble in front of Saint goaltender Julia Hudson at 27:33 and the second came on a shot from the top of the circle off a penalty corner at 29:16 and came off an assist by Megan Paris.

The Saints, who did not substitute in the game, controlled the play after intermission and tied it at 2-2 10:19 into the half when Kara Pelosi scored her ninth of the year off a centering pass by Erica French following a SLU penalty corner.

St. Lawrence outshot Nazareth 27-15 and had 11 penalty corners to seven for the Flyers. Devine, making just her second start of the season and her fifth appearance overall, finished with 11 saves for Nazareth while Hudson made seven for the Saints.

Nazareth has a pair of Empire 8 Conference games remaining. The Golden Flyers visit Hartwick Saturday at 11 a.m. and then travel to Stevens Nov. 1.
