Updated statsITHACA, N.Y. -- Host Ithaca won a key Empire 8 women's soccer matchup Sunday as the Bombers scored the game-winning goal with 4:04 to go in the first overtime period for a 2-1 victory over Nazareth.
Nazareth, ranked 21st nationally in the latest Division III poll conducted by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, had a four-game unbeaten streak snapped in the loss and dropped to 9-3-1 overall and 4-1 in the Empire 8. Ithaca is 10-2 overall and 5-1 in conference games.
The victory gives the Bombers a leg up in the battle for home field advantage for next month's conference tournament. Nazareth has three conference games remaining -- at Stevens next Saturday, home against Alfred on Oct. 21 and home against Utica on Oct. 25. Ithaca visits St. John Fisher Saturday and hosts Hartwick Oct. 25.

Allison Dobles after receiving a crossing pass from Kelsey King. Ithaca now has won the last three meetings with the Golden Flyers and is 18-7-9 against Nazareth overall.
Sunday's game was scoreless in the first half, then Ithaca finally broke through in the 68th minute as King netted her 10th goal of the season after intercepting a pass from a Nazareth defender and burying a shot that deflected off Dobles before settling into the net.
Nazareth tied the score with just 6:40 remaining in regulation as junior
Briana Vibbard scored her team-leading fifth goal after settling a pass from
Kaitlyn Sowyrda. Ithaca then had the only two shots of overtime, including Woychick's game-winner.
Dobles finished with six saves while Ithaca's Beth Coppolecchia made four.
Nazareth's next game is Saturday at Stevens at 2 p.m.
