The Hawks down Nazareth, 68-35

ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick defeated Nazareth for the second time this season by a score of 68-35.  The Golden Flyers are now 7-11, 2-6 in the Empire 8 while the Hawks improve to 15-4, 8-1.
 
Nazareth took an early 5-0 lead to open the first half when Julia Brew scored from behind the arc followed by a Hannah Runyon lay-up.  The Hawks tied the score up three times before taking the lead for good, 12-10, with 12:02 in the first.  
 
Hartwick continued to build on their lead going on a 12-0 run mid-way through the first half and holding the Golden Flyers scoreless for five straight minutes to pull ahead, 24-11.  Hartwick built on that lead and were up 34-16 at the half.
 
The Hawks came out strong in the second half going on an 11-0 run to increase their lead to 45-16.  Anna Wicks stopped the scoring drought at 16:47 with a lay-up to make the score 45-18.
 
Nazareth was never able to recover as Hartwick led by as much as 32 points, 63-31, with 5:46 left in the game, and by 33 points with 1:19 left for the final score of 68-35.
 
Nazareth shot just 18.5 percent from the field and were out-rebounded 53-42.
 
Eleven different Golden Flyers scored on the night.  The starters struggled offensively, combining for just 16 points.  Megan Morrison led Nazareth off the bench with 7 points shooting 7-for-10 from the free throw line.  Veronica Peck had five.  Lindsey Kelly and Wicks each had four points.  Brew finished with three points while Melissa Reeves, Maria Allocco, Runyon, Colby McCartney, Katrina Wright, and Hayley Spoljaric all had two points.  
 
Nazareth plays at Stevens Institute of Technology tomorrow night at 6:30 pm.
