Nazareth edges Oswego 3-2 as Foley scores twice

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Senior Ryan Foley scored two goals and senior Jimmy Gaffney also scored in the second half for visiting Nazareth Saturday as the Golden Flyers defeated Oswego in a non-conference men's soccer match, 3-2.

The victory evened Nazareth's overall record at 2-2 while Oswego dropped to 0-3-1.

Foley leads the Golden Flyers with three goals in the team's first four games. He scored in the 18th minute to give Nazareth a 1-0 advantage. Then after Oswego tied the score prior to halftime, Foley scored again in the 48th minute to put the Golden Flyers in front for good.

Gaffney's goal, his first of the season in the 75th minute, provided the Golden Flyers with some insurance. Senior Tommy Rocco gained an assist.

Each team had 10 shots. Nazareth freshman Nate Ripic played all 90 minutes in goal for the Golden Flyers and was credited with three saves.

Nazareth is off until Sept. 15 for a non-conference game against Swarthmore at 12:30 p.m.
