ROCHESTER, NY – Nazareth won its' second game in as many days to improve to 2-3 overall. The Golden Flyers dominated visiting Morrisville11-1, in a non-conference game. Nazareth has not scored in double digits since a 13-0 win over Medaille College in 1998, when Coach
Andrea Tutino was a defender for the Golden Flyers.
Nazareth struck early and often starting with a
Maggie Muzio goal just 7:25 into the game.
Sarah Wazenkewitz scored her first of three goals in today's game on a penalty stroke that was awarded at 8:59 after the Mustang goalkeeper covered the ball. Less than two minutes later Wazenkewitz assisted on a goal by
Kristina Back to put Nazareth up 3-0.
Morrisville's Paige Jerrett scored at 19:16 to make the score 3-1 and prevent the shutout. She was assisted by Rebecca Quackenbush.
The Golden Flyers scored two more before the end of the half to take the 5-1 lead into the break. Back scored again and #Magill Woodruff scored off a
Maggie Muzio assist.
Nazareth continued to put on the offensive pressure scoring six second half goals. Wazenkewitz scored two more,
Sibongile Chisi scored twice,
Kailee Coleman, and
Megan Paris scored one apiece.
Mary Greco started in goal for Nazareth to earn the win. She made one save and allowed one goal before giving way to
Lauren Devine who was never challenged to make a save defensively. Morrisville's Nicole Gregg made 13 saves and allowed seven goals while Meaghan Mack had six saves and four goals against.
Nazareth out-shot Morrisville 43-4 and had a 15-3 advantage in penalty corners.
The Golden Flyers are now on the road for their next three games starting with Elmira College next Saturday, September 21 at 1 pm.
