ROCHESTER, NY - Nazareth College earned its first win of the season defeating Hartwick 2-0 to improve to 1-3 overall.  The game was the first Empire 8 Conference game of the season for both teams and the Golden Flyers are now 1-0 while Hartwick falls to 2-3, and 0-1 in the conference.

The Golden Flyers, who were held scoreless in the first half of their first three games this season, turned up the offensive pressure this afternoon scoring both of their goals in the opening stanza of today's win.  Senior Jordan Ritchie scored her first goal of the season at 24:14 during a penalty corner opportunity.  Her goal was unassisted after she collected a rebound off of a defenders stick to find the back of the goal.

Freshman Kailee Coleman scored her first collegiate goal at 31:55 to put Nazareth up 2-0.  She was assisted by senior Sarah Wazenkewitz.

In an evenly matched game, both teams had 10 shots while Hartwick had an 11-6 advantage on penalty corners.

Hartwick's Shannon Carter had five saves in goal while Nazareth's Shannon Winney also made five saves and Haley Potter came up with a big defensive save for the Golden Flyers to preserve the shutout victory.

Nazareth will face Morrisville tomorrow at 12 pm for a non-conference game before hitting the road for three straight away games.
