ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Otterbein scored goals in each half against Nazareth Friday as the Cardinals defeated the Golden Flyers in women's soccer, 2-0, in the season opener for both teams. The game was played as part of the Rachael Miller Invitational hosted by RIT.

Megan McCabe and Polly Sellers scored goals for Otterbein, which outshot the Golden Flyers 7-6. Nazareth had difficulty mustering any offense as senior Olivia Derleth generated the only Golden Flyer shot on goal.

McCabe scored in the 11th minute for the only goal Otterbein needed. Jillian Strimbu and Alex Ancona had assists. In the 66th minute, Sellers dribbled through the Nazareth defense to deliver an unassisted score to make it 2-0.

Senior Abbie Carey made two saves in goal for the Golden Flyers.

Nazareth plays Saturday at 2 p.m. against Allegheny. RIT defeated Allegheny, 1-0 in overtime in Friday's first game.
