Fisher blanks Nazareth, 11-0; 2nd game ppd.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting St. John Fisher banged out 13 hits over five innings to post an 11-0 victory over Nazareth in Empire 8 Conference softball action Friday. The second game was suspended by rain with Fisher leading 5-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

The game will be resumed Sunday at 1 p.m. from the point of suspension.

St. John Fisher improved to 22-11 overall and 7-4 in the Empire 8. Nazareth is 5-17 overall and 3-8 in conference games.

Jessie Smyrski had three hits for the Cardinals and Leanne Merchant cracked a three-run homer in the first inning to provide Fisher with some offense.

Nazareth managed only a bloop single by junior Sarah Cipperly in the fourth inning.

Nazareth plays a non-conference doubleheader at Houghton Saturday, starting at 1 p.m. and then the make-up game with Fisher on Sunday.
