ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Nazareth's second-ranked men's volleyball team extended its unbeaten record to 9-0 Wednesday as the Golden Flyers defeated United Volleyball Conference rival Elmira in four sets. Scores were 31-29, 25-19, 22-25, 25-20.

Off to the best start in the program's nine-year history, Nazareth improved to 4-0 in conference matches. The 11th-ranked Soaring Eagles are 6-5 overall and 2-3 in UVC matches.

In Wednesday's match, the Golden Flyers continued to spike the ball at a steady clip as they posted a percentage of .340 with 53 kills and 18 errors in 103 attempts. Senior Robert Kraft paced the balanced attack with 11 kills and three blocks. Three others -- sophomore Luke Lawatsch and freshmen Grant Levermore and Tim Zyburt -- had 10 kills. Sophomore Brody Cord added six kills.

Senior EJ Wells-Spicer played all four sets and totaled 38 kills and seven digs. Lawatsch also had six blocks, while Zyburt and senior Dan Mowery each produced nine digs.

Nazareth is idle this weekend and plays again Wednesday, Feb. 20 at home against Hilbert at 7 p.m.
