GENESEO, N.Y. -- Nazareth's women's and men's cross country teams traveled to Letchworth Park on Saturday to compete at the Pre-Regional meet. Sophomore
Gabrielle LeBihan was the first Golden Flyer to finish in the women's 6-kilometer race. She finished 24th with a time of 22:57. Senior
Matt Fedrizzi was first to finish for the men's team as he placed 65th with a time of 27:03 in the 8-kilometer race.
Geneseo took the women's title with a total score of 55 points as they had five runners finish in the top 16 places. Laurentian was second with 99 points, and Vassar was third with 135 team points.
Freshman
Emily Thompson finished second for Nazareth in 57th-place with a time of 23:44. Following Thompson was graduate student
Lauren Jamieson in 97th-place (24:26) and sophomore
Blair Meeson in 154th-place (25:13). Junior
Michaela Gildemeyer rounded out the Golden Flyers' top five in 171st with a time of 25:38. Freshman
Jamie DiSalvo finished one place behind Gildemeyer with time of 25:39.
Moments after DiSalvo finished, junior
Kassandra Lathrop crossed the line in 179th-place. Lathrop's time was 25:51. Junior
Meleana Spera was the next Golden Flyer to finish as she placed 191st (26:10). Freshman
Kelly Maloney (26:44) and junior
Victoria Burchill (28:09) also finished 211th and 239th, respectively.
In the men's meet, Geneseo took first with a total team score of 34 points. The Knights finished with four runners in the top six places to win the meet. Rochester finished second with 112 points as they edged Vassar, who tallied 117 points.
Freshman
Jacob Murray was the second Nazareth runner to cross the finish line as he took 160th with a time of 28:46. Classmate
Ethan Osborne finished nine places later with a time of 28:56. Sophomore
Patrick Neureuter finished 196th (29:40), just three places ahead of senior
Jake Lafaver (29:48).
Freshmen
Matt Battaglia and
Thomas Lannon were the sixth and seventh finishers for Nazareth. Battaglia placed 208th (29:57), and Lannon was 217th (30:33). Senior
Zack Lafaver was just behind Lannon as he placed 221st with a time of 30:42.
The Golden Flyers race again on October 12th when they travel to Clinton, N.Y. for the Airfield Invitational.
