CLINTON, N.Y. -- Sophomore
Gabrielle LeBihan led the way for Nazareth Saturday as the Golden Flyers' women's cross country team secured a fifth-place finish at the NYSCTC meet at the Hamilton College Golf Course.
LeBihan covered the 6-kilometer course in 23 minutes, 14 seconds to finish in ninth place overall. Nazareth had a team score of 158 in the 12-team field. St. Lawrence won the team title with 34 points, followed by Ithaca (64), Hamilton (77), Rensselaer (79) and Nazareth.
In the men's 8-kilometer race, Nazareth finished in 10th place with a team score of 288. St. Lawrence had five of the top nine finishers to take the team title with 25 points.
In the women's race, senior
Lauren Jamieson finished in 32nd place (24:32.0), followed by freshman
Emily Thompson in 37th place (24:44.7); senior
Lauren Heitzhaus in 38th place (24:49.1) and sophomore
Blair Meeson in 42nd place (25:02.8). Juniors
Michaela Gildemeyer (45th place, 25:10.3) and
Kassandra Lathrop (56th place, 26:13.2) also competed.
In the men's race, senior
Matt Fedrizzi was Nazareth's top individual in 41st place (28:21.5). Sophomore
Patrick Neureuter finished in 55th place (29:30.8) and was followed by freshman
Jacob Murray in 63rd place (30:29.3), senior
Jake Lafaver in 64th place (30:33.7); freshman
Matt Battaglia in 65th place (30:39.0); senior Zach Lafaver in 69th place and freshman
Thomas Lannon in 79th place (32:31.4).
Both teams travel to Saratoga Saturday to compete in the Empire 8 Conference Meet at Saratoga State Park.
