Nazareth falls to Geneseo, 6-0

Golden Flyers play at William Smith on October 30th

GENESEO, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth was defeated 6-0 by Geneseo in a women's non-conference field hockey game on Saturday. Freshman Mary Greco recorded 10 saves for the Golden Flyers in the loss.

With the loss, Nazareth falls to 4-12 overall. Geneseo improves to 10-6 overall with the victory.

The Knights controlled the contest from the opening minutes and refused to allow the Golden Flyers to establish a rhythm. Kayla DeAngelis tallied an unassisted goal just over two minutes into the game, then scored again nine minutes later. DeAngelis now has 17 goals on the year. Sarah Malinak added a goal 3:01 before halftime. Bridget McGovern was credited with the assist. Greco made eight saves in the first half to keep Nazareth within three goals.

Four minutes into the second half, McGovern was on the scoring end of a pass from Malinak. The Knights added two additional goals to stretch Geneseo's lead to six. Kerry Hosford scored in the 42nd minute, then Malinak added her second of the game in the 54th minute.

The Knights dominated the Golden Flyers 31-0 in total shots and 19-0 in penalty corners. Dayna Mercer earned the victory in net for Geneseo.

Nazareth travels to William Smith on Wednesday, October 30th for another non-conference contest.
