BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Nazareth's men's and women's indoor track and field teams returned to action Friday at Brockport's Golden Eagle Invitational. No team scoring was kept, but the Golden Flyers turned in several strong individual performances.
In the men's meet, junior
Jake Lafaver and senior
Philip Schierer finished 1-2 in the 400-meter dash with times of :52.00 and :52.31 respectively.
Junior
Matt Fedrizzi was sixth in the 800-meter run (2:04.58); freshman
Khiary Gayle was seventh in the long jump (19 feet, 7 1/2 inches) and freshman
Brandon Vuolo was ninth in the shot put (41 feet, 1 1/2 inches).
In the women's meet, senior
Keaghlan Morrissey and sophomore
Hannah Brackley finished first in the 60-meter hurdles and the 400-meter dash respectively. Morrissey posted a winning time of :10.45 seconds, while Brackley was clocked in 1:01.12. Both were members of the 4 x 400-meter relay team that finished first in 4:15.06. Freshman
Taylor Pierson and sophomore
Michaela Gildemeyer also competed.
In other events, freshman
Bridget Dunbar won the high jump by clearing 4 feet, 9 3/4 inches and freshman
Sibongile Chisi equaled her own school record in the pole vault as she placed third with a height of 9 feet, 5 1/4 inches. Pierson also finished second in the 200-meter dash (:27.59) and third in the 60-meter dash (8.28). Nazareth finished 3-4-5 in the 800-meter run with junior
Lauren Heitzhaus (2:28.02), senior
Lauren Jamieson (2:29.19) and Gildemeyer (2:29.94).
Nazareth also finished second in the distance medley (13:45.45) with the foursome of Heitzhaus, senior
Kayla Murphy, freshman
Courtney Pitman and Jamieson.
