HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The women's and men's cross country teams traveled to Houghton for their second meet of the season, and each team recorded a fourth place finish. Junior
Lauren Heitzhaus was the Golden Flyers' top finisher in the women's 3,200-meter race as she placed eighth overall with a time of 12:04.93. In the men's 5,000-meter race, senior #Pete Fekete placed third overall with a time of 16:25.93.
In the women's race, Roberts Wesleyan claimed the top spot with a combined score of 19 points, followed by RIT with a score of 58. St. John Fisher edged Nazareth for third by scoring 89 points, followed by the Golden Flyers' 92 points. Houghton and D'Youville recorded scores of 111 points and 189 points, respectively.

Lauren Jamieson was the Golden Flyers' second finisher as she placed 13th with a time of 12:19.44. Jamieson was followed by senior
Kelsey Ryan in 18th (12:31.77), freshman
Shanna Swanson in 25th (12:39.31), and freshman
Courtney Pitman in 32nd (12:52.07).

Kayla Murphy was Nazareth's sixth finisher in 38th (13:03.27). The foursome of sophomore
Michaela Gildemeyer, junior
Kayleigh Olive, and freshmen
Blair Meeson and
Bridget Dunbar claimed places 45-48 as they finished in a span of less than four seconds to round out the Golden Flyers' top ten. Gildemeyer had a time of 13:14.65, followed by Olive with 13:16.15, Meeson with 13:17.00, and Dunbar with 13:18.07.
As in the women's race, Roberts Wesleyan also claimed the title in the men's race with a total of 28 points. RIT followed in second with a score of 57, followed by St. John Fisher in third with a score of 86, which just edged Nazareth's total of 87. Houghton placed fifth with a score of 108, followed by D'Youville with a score of 179.
In the men's meet, junior
Matt Fedrizzi finished second for Nazareth in 14th place and a time of 17:11.33. Freshman
Patrick Neureuter placed 19th with a time of 17:24.78. Neureuter was followed by senior
Josh Strough (18:05.22) and junior
Jake Lafaver, (18:07.82) who placed 28th and 29th, respectively. Junior Zach Lafaver closed out the men's runners in 55th place and a time of 21:53.68.
The Golden Flyers are in action again on September 15th when Nazareth runs at Genesee Valley Park for the UR Invitational.
