Brockport outscores Nazareth, 3-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Brockport scored the game-winning goal with less than 25 minutes to play in the second half Saturday and went on to take a 3-2 women's soccer victory over Nazareth in a non-conference game at rainy Golden Flyer Stadium.

The game was played as the Golden Challenge for a Pink Cure with all the proceeds donated to the Wilmot Cancer Center for breast cancer research.
Brockport remained unbeaten  at 3-0-1 overall, while the Golden Flyers suffered their first defeat and dropped to 1-1-2 overall.

Nazareth fell behind 2-0 in the first 30 minutes of play as Brockport got goals from Katie Dykes and Sarah Lawson. Nazareth rallied to tie the score on goals by sophomore Ashtin Argentieri and freshman Dana Donnelly.

Argentieri scored her second goal of the season four minutes before halftime as she slipped a shot past Brockport keeper Laura Thompson off a pass from Sarah Cipperly.

In the second half, Nazareth tied the score as Donnelly netted her first career goal off a cross from Sarah Eichelberger, who picked up her second assist of the season.

Brockport got the game-winning goal in the 66th minute as freshman Courtney Szczesniak knocked in a rebound off a shot by Annie Terilli. Nazareth had some chances to tie the score in the closing minutes as Donnelly and Cipperly each had headers on goal that were saved by Thompson.

Nazareth had a 21-12 advantage in shots and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks. Junior goalie Abbier Carey made four saves for the Golden Flyers, while Thompson had nine saves for the Golden Eagles.

Nazareth opens its Empire 8 Conference schedule Tuesday at St. John Fisher at 7 p.m.
