BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Senior Sarah Eichelberger scored four goals and added an assist Wednesday as visiting Nazareth gained its first women's soccer victory of the season with a 5-1 triumph over Medaille in a non-conference game at All High Stadium.

Nazareth improved to 1-0-2 while the Mavericks dropped to 1-2 overall. The game marked the first-ever meeting between Nazareth and Medaille in women's soccer.

After opening the season with a pair of ties -- and scoring just one goal -- at their own Nazareth Invitational over the weekend, the Golden Flyers' offense erupted against Medaille as Eichelberger scored twice in the first half and then assisted on a third goal by Olivia Derleth. All three scores came in the first 15 minutes as Nazareth enjoyed a 14-1 shooting advantage in the first half. Sophomore Kaitlyn Sowyrda had an assist on Eichelberger's first goal.

After Joey Ruderman scored for Medaille in the 52nd minute to cut Nazareth's lead to 3-1, Eichelberger added two more goals in the last 10 minutes of regulation and now has 14 goals for her career.

Sophomore Elizabeth Howell assisted on the first score in the 81st minute. Junior Julia Teran Pulford added an assist on Eichelberger's fourth goal of the game in the 83rd minute.

Nazareth used two goalkeepers -- Abbie Carey in the first half and Bethany Novak in the second -- but neither recorded a save. Nazareth had overall advantages in shots (23-2) and corner kicks (9-0).

Nazareth hosts Brockport Saturday at 12 noon at Golden Flyer Stadium. The game is the annual Golden Challenge for a Pink Cure, sponsored by the Soccer Shack, with all the proceeds donated to breast cancer research.
