BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Host Brockport scored three second half goals to secure its 4-0 victory against Nazareth in a non-conference field hockey contest on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Tessa Knapp and junior Alexis Root each had two shots on goal for the Golden Flyers. Danielle Henck scored two goals to lead the Golden Eagles.

Following the loss, Nazareth drops to 1-3 overall. Brockport improves to 3-1 overall following the victory.

Midway through the first half, Goalden Eagles' goalie Kasey Schreiner thwarted a scoring opportunity for the Golden Flyers. After the Golden Flyers earned a corner with 22:32 to play in the half, Schreiner saved Knapp's shot to keep the score knotted 0-0.

Minutes later, Henck substituted into the contest and scored just 1:03 after she entered to put Brockport on the board with 17:34 to play in the first half. Henck scored after collecting the rebound from a corner shot by teammate Taryn Rossi. Rossi was credited with an assist on Henck's goal. Nazareth goalie, sophomore Shannon Winney finished the half with six saves to keep the Golden Flyers in the game. Winney recorded back-to-back saves with just under 11 minutes remaining as the Golden Eagles tried to stretch their lead.

With about 15 minutes remaining in the opening period, Nazareth threatened with consecutive shots on goal from senior Lindsey Smith and Root. The Golden Flyers had three corners in a span of about two minutes but were unable to score on Schreiner.

Brockport scored two goals in the first 11:11 of the second half to extend its lead to three goals. Jessica Bind set up Henck's second goal of the game with a crossing pass into the middle. Less than two minutes later, Molly Hurd scored off a rebound after Winney made the initial save.

Root, Knapp, and senior Kailee O'Hara each had a shot on goal that was saved by Schreiner with about 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Schreiner's goalkeeping prevented the Golden Flyers from rallying. Schreiner recorded six saves in the victory. Nikkia Russell added Brockport's fourth goal after receiving a short pass from Brenna Gallivan in front of the Nazareth goal.

The Golden Eagles finished with a 20-10 advantage in total shots, including a 12-6 advantage in shots on goal. Brockport also recorded an 11-7 advantage in corners.

The Golden Flyers are in action again on September 15th when Nazareth travels to Ithaca for its second Empire 8 contest of the season.
