Nazareth closes out its season with a pair of weekend doubleheaders. The Golden Flyers host Houghton Saturday at 1 p.m. and travel to Elmira Sunday at 1 p.m. Stevens improved to 14-19 overall and 5-3 in the E8.

In the first game, Nazareth squandered a strong pitching performance by senior Kelly Kocher, who yielded just three hits over six innings and had 11 strikeouts. One of the hits, however, was a solo home run to freshman Jamie DeGennaro in the first inning that gave the Ducks an early lead. Stevens added an unearned run in the sixth to go up 2-0 and then held off a late rally by the Golden Flyers in the seventh.

Walks to Shauna Bardanis and Nicole Bayona opened the inning and Bardanis scored two outs later on a single by Emily Beckley. Bayona, representing the tying run, was left stranded at third when Kailey Ritch lined out to second base to end the game.

Freshman Corrin Spallone pitched the second game for the Golden Flyers and she settled down after giving up two runs in the first inning. Stevens had three hits in the inning, including a two-run single by Stephanie Senkevich.

While Spallone shut the Ducks out the rest of the way, Nazareth could only push one run across in the sixth inning. Rhoades opened the inning with a single and moved to second on a walk to Shannon Dowling. She scored two outs later on a single by Danielle Sancilio. Dowling, with two hits, reached base three times in the game.
