ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Nazareth's men's and women's track and field teams competed alongside teams from 16 other schools in today's University of Rochester Alumni Invitational.
For the women's team, freshman #
Michaela Gildemeyer# placed sixth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:08.40. Gildemeyer was soon followed by sophomore #
Lauren Heitzhaus# who finished the 1500m in seventh place in 5:09.21. Placing eighth in the 800-meter run for the Golden Flyers was junior #
Lauren Jamieson with a time of 2:26.27. Freshman #
Hannah Brackley# placed third in the 200-meter dash in 27.11, shortly followed by junior #
Katie Wyant# with a fifth place finish in 27.49. Nazareth's women's 4x800-meter relay team secured a seventh place finish with a combined time of 10:40.60. The relay team comprised of juniors Jamieson, #
Kayla Murphy#, and #
Candice Colosi#, and senior #
Michelle Gillette#.
The Golden Flyers' men's team also placed strong in today's invitational. Freshman #Ira Griffin# placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.12. Griffin placed first in the 200-meter dash in 22.38, followed by sophomore #Jake Lafaver# in eighth place with a time of 23.10. Freshman #Ryan Holowesko# secured fourth place in the javelin, reaching a distance of 44.64 meters. Nazareth's 4x400-meter relay team clinched third place with a time of 3:28.22. The relay team consisted of sophomores Jake and #Zack Lafaver#, #Philip Schierer#, and senior #Tim Rutan#.
Nazareth will compete in the Empire 8 Championship at Ithaca on April 21
st.
