MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Nazareth's men's volleyball team won a pair of matches Friday as the Golden Flyers recorded three-set sweeps of Rust College and Milwaukee School of Engineering during the first day of competition at the Carthage/MSOE Tournament.

Ranked eighth nationally in Division III, Nazareth improved to 19-6 with the two victories. The Golden Flyers play two more matches Saturday -- at 12 p.m. vs. Eastern Mennonite and at 5 p.m. vs. third-ranked Carthage.

Against Rust of Mississippi, Nazareth had little difficulty as freshman Brody Cord knocked out 11 kills and junior Dan Mowery combined six kills with four service aces and four digs.

Against MSOE, juniors Alex Houghtalen and Rob Kraft had 19 and 10 kills respectively and junior EJ Wells-Spicer# added 42 assists. In the wild third set, the score was tied 10 times before Nazareth claimed the two-point win on a kill from freshman Luke Lawatsch.
