CLINTON, N.Y. -- Nazareth junior
Katie Wyant (Jasper-Troupsburg/Jasper, N.Y.) placed third overall in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:19.95 at the NYSCTC championships, hosted by Hamilton College. Wyant's time improved by 1.11 seconds over the school record that she set only a couple weeks ago on February 11th at Cornell.
The women's team posted a total of 24 points to finish in eighth place. Ithaca amassed 266 points to claim the women's title, followed by St. Lawrence in second place with 132.5 points and Rochester in third place with 94.5 points.
In the men's meet, RPI edged Ithaca for the overall title with 159.5 points. The Bombers accumulated 154 points to settle for second place. RIT finished in third place with 121.3 total points. The Golden Flyers posted 10 points to finish in 11th place.
In the individual events, graduate student
Kristi Custer (DeRuyter/Truxton, N.Y.) and freshman
Michaela Gildemeyer (Christian Brothers Academy/Syracuse, N.Y.) each recorded fourth-place finishes. Custer placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.6 seconds while Gildemeyer crossed the line in fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.6. Custer also placed ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.43 meters (34 ft., 2 3/4 in.). Junior
Lauren Jamieson (South Jefferson/Adams, N.Y.) added an 11th-place finish in the one-mile run with a time of 5:34.53.
In the two-day pentathlon event, Custer finished with a personal best of 2:41.01 in the 800-meter run to help her total 2,562 points. Custer's time of 10.08 in the 60-meter hurdles placed her second in the hurdles event. In the shot put, Custer recorded a mark of 8.28 meters (27 ft., 2 in.). Custer hit a mark of 4.54 meters (14 ft. 10 3/4in.) in the long jump and a mark of 1.34 meters (4 ft., 4 3/4 in.) in the high jump. Custer completed her pentathlon events before competing in the triple jump, in which she placed ninth.
The 4x800-meter relay team, consisting of Wyant, Gildemeyer, Jamieson, and sophomore
Lauren Heitzhaus (Nardin Academy/Buffalo, N.Y.) crossed the finish line in 10:05.41 to claim third place in the race.

Jake Lafaver (West Genesee/Syracuse, N.Y.) highlighted the Golden Flyers' finishes in the men's meet. Lafaver placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of :51.4. Freshman

Tim Rutan (Wayne Central/Macedon, N.Y.) each had seventh-place finishes in their respective events. Griffin placed seventh in the 60-meter dash (7.18 seconds) while Rutan was seventh in the 800-meter run (2:01.31). Junior
Philip Schierer (Fillmore/Fillmore, N.Y.) contributed a ninth-place finish in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:09.03.
Senior
Dan Polino (Clarence/East Amherst, N.Y.) finished the heptatlon during Saturday's competition. Polino closed the event with 10.0 in the 60-meter hurdles, 2:50.7 in the 1,000-meter run, and a mark of 2.79 meters (9 ft., 1 3/4 in.) in the pole vault. Polino amassed 3,867 total points in the two-day event. Sophomore Zach Lafaver (West Genesee/Syracuse, N.Y.) joined his brother, Jake, and Schierer and Griffin in the men's 4x400-meter relay. The Golden Flyers' foursome finished the race in ninth-place with a time of 3:35.21.
