ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Freshman
Ira Griffin broke his own school record Friday in the 200-meter dash Friday as Nazareth's track and field teams competed at RIT Tiger Invitational at Gordon Field House.
Griffin posted a time of :22.98 second to finish in second place in the 200-meter dash, bettering his own school record of :23.09 second set at the Empire 8 Conference meet two weeks ago.
Griffin also finished third in the 60-meter dash (7.06) and ran on Nazareth's winning 1600-meter relay (3:30.74) that also included sophomore
Jake Lafaver, junior
Phil Schierer and senior
Dan Polino.
Other competitors included sophomore Zach Lafaver, who placed fifth in the 500-meter dash (1:10.25) and senior
Tim Rutan, who ran eighth in the 500-meter dash (1:10.95) and 11th in the 1,000-meter run (2:45.03).
Jake Lafaver also finished fourth in the 400-meter dash in :51.76.
In the women's meet, Nazareth finished first in the 1600-meter relay (4:19.9i6) with the foursome of graduate student
Kristi Custer, juniors Lauren Janieson and
Katie Wyant and freshman
Michaela Gildemeyer. Jamieson also placed sixth in the 1,000-meter run (3:14.85) and senior
Michelle Gillette was seventh in the 3,000-meter run (11;25.03).
