Pentathlon results
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Nazareth's men's and women's track and field team competed Saturday at the Kane Invitational at Cornell University's Barton Hall. No team scoring was kept, but the Golden Flyers turned in some strong performances.
In the men's meet, sophomore
Jake Lafaver and junior
Phil Schierer each broke the school record in the 500-meter dash with fifth- and sixth-place finishes respectively. Lafaver was timed in 1:07.66, just ahead of Schierer (1:07.70). Robby Castor held the previous record of 1:09.02 since 2008.
Other competitors included sophomore Zach Lafaver, 17th in the 400-meter dash (:53.57); senior
Tim Rutan, 30th in teh 800-meter run (2:04.70); senior
Peter Fekete, 30th in the 3,000-meter run (9:18.01) and senior
Dan Polino, seventh in the heptathlon (3,884 points).
In the women's meet, junior
Katie Wyant broke the school record in the 500-meter dash with a third-place time of 1:12.06. She broke the mark of 1:21.13 set by Lauren Glaser in 2007.
Freshman
Michaela Gildemeyer finished 15th in the 800-meter run (2:30.21), while junior
Lauren Jamieson placed 20th in the mile run (5:45.35).
Senior
Michelle Gillette placed 20th in the 1,000-meter run (3:28.41) and 23rd in the mile (5:53.30). Junior
Kelsey Ryan was 22nd in the 3,000-meter run (11:18.10) and graduate student
Kristi Custer was 11th in the pentathlon with 2,552 points.
