Nazareth tops SUNY Morrisville, 90-54

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Nazareth College women's basketball earned a commanding victory over SUNY Morrisville Monday night, 90-54 in a nonconference matchup. The victory lifts the Golden Flyers to 3-6 overall and drops the Mustangs to 0-8 overall.

Nazareth built a commanding first-half lead as the Golden Flyers led 38-7 with just over five minutes to play. They settled for a 45-15 lead at the break. Nothing changed in the second half as the lead continued to swell. A basket by Lindsey Kelly with 17 minutes to go brought the advantage to 40 points, 57-17.

The Golden Flyers shot the ball well all night, hitting 36 of 65 shots overall (55.4 percent), including 7 of 16 from three-point range (43.8 percent). In contrast, Morrisville went just 19 for 64 (29.7 percent) from the field.

Kelly had a team-high 15 points for the game with teammates Anna Wicks and Colby McCartney each conecting for career highs with 12 and 10 points respectively. On the defensive end, Maria Allocco tallied 10 total rebounds, a game high. Teammate Gwen Dougherty was close behind with seven rebounds. Freshman Veronica Peck had a career-high eight assists.

The Golden Flyers have one more non-conference game -- at home vs. Pitt.-Bradford on Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. -- before Empire 8 Conference play begins Jan. 4.
