Nazareth places 24th in NCAA Atlantic Regionals

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior Lauren Heitzhaus was Nazareth's top female finisher Saturday as the Golden Flyers' men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester to end their season.

The women finished 24th out of 39 teams in the 6-kilometer race. The team finished with a team total of 659 points. St. Lawrence earned the top spot with a team total of 49 points, leaving the second place team, Geneseo, 86 points behind with a score of 135.  Following St. Lawrence and Geneseo were NYU (154), Rowan (182) and Ithaca (221).

The men finished 30th out of 44 teams in the 8-kilometer race. Nazareth finished with a team score of 882 points. NYU took first place with a total of 50 points, and Geneseo following close behind with 59 points. Other teams competing were Cortland (94), Rochester (131), and St. Lawrence (146).

In the women's race, Heitzhaus placed 96th out of 277 with a time of 24:04.1. First place runner was Amy Cymerman from St. Lawrence University with a time of 21:37.5

In the men's race, senior Pete Fekete finished 93rd out of 297 with a time of 27:09.2. Senior Alex Brimstein of SUNY Geneseo finished in first place with a time of 25:14.4

Other Nazareth runners were freshman Shanna Swanson, who finished in 99th (24:05.5); senior Kelsey Ryan, who finished 154th (24:59.5); senior Lauren Jamieson, who finished 158th (25:01.3); junior Bethany Althaus, who finished 172nd (25:16.3); senior Kayla Murphy who finished 180th (25:21.1); junior Kayleigh Olive, who finished 199th (25:55.3); junior Matt Fedrizzi who finished 143rd (27:51.1); freshman Patrick Neureuter who finished 197th (28:47.6); senior Josh Strough who finished 210th (29:14.6); and junior Jake Lafaver who finished 239th (30:06.6).
