ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Nazareth College Golden Flyers triumphed over the Utica Pioneers 5-0 Sunday afternoon in a women's soccer match at the Golden Flyer Stadium. The win lifts the Golden Flyers to 7-4-3 overall and 3-2-1 in the Empire 8 conference. The loss drops the Pioneers to 6-6-0 overall and 0-5 in conference play.

Olivia Derleth recorded three goals for the Golden Flyers and teammates
Ashtin Argentieri and
Kristina McCann added the other goals for the score of 5-0.
Play in the first half was dominated by the Golden Flyers, having three great scoring opportunities within the first five minutes of the game. Nazareth was organized and composed on the attack, putting up a total of 20 shots and 3 corner kicks in just the first half of play. The Golden Flyers first goal came in the 21st minute off a corner kick from freshman
Mel Gettys. Gettys was able to find the feet of Derleth, who knocked the ball past Utica goalkeeper Marissa Hotaling. The goal was number six for Derleth and the assist was number four for Gettys. On the defensive side of play, Nazareth was able to hold the Pioneers without a shot.
The second half was full of action with the Golden Flyers scoring another four goals. The first goal of the second half came in the 62nd minute as sophomore
Elizabeth Howell received a through ball to break behind the Utica defense and slid a pass in front of the goal mouth to the foot of Derleth for her second goal of the game and seventh for the season. The third goal came five minutes later as the Golden Flyers were awarded a corner kick. Freshman
Dana Donnelly sailed a lofted ball into the box where Derleth one-timed the ball inside the near post for the hat trick and eighth goal of the season. Just two minutes after Derleth's third goal, Argentieri was able to capitalize on a rebound off a shot from freshman
Danielle Wilkin to lift the score to 4-0. In the 78th minute the Golden Flyers were awarded a free kick where freshman
Katie Reilly sent a dangerous ball into the box for McCann to collect and find the back of the net. Nazareth's defense continued to play tough, allowing just one shot for the game.

Abbie Carey recorded one save and played a total of 70 minutes. Freshman
Mackenzie Dunphy made her collegiate debut, recording 20 minutes of action against the Pioneers.
The Golden Flyers are at home in the Golden Flyer Stadium Saturday Oct. 13th as they take on Hartwick College at 2 p.m.
