ROCHESTER, NY - Nazareth won its fourth straight game defeating Elmira 2-1. It was the Golden Flyers first Empire 8 victory of the season as they improve to 5-9, 1-4. Elmira falls to 3-7, 2-3 in the conference.

opened up the scoring off a deflection from Alexis Root# just 6:50 into the first half to give Nazareth an early 1-0 lead. Elmira had a chance to tie it up but Golden Flyer keeper
Shannon Winney made two diving saves in the first half to preserve the lead. As the time in the first half was winding down, senior
Tessa Knapp scored after collecting a loose ball in front of the cage to put Nazareth up 2-0 going into the break.
Sarah Harden-Marshall collected a rebound off of Winney's goal-pads and scored with 17:16 left in the second half to put Elmira within one, 2-1.
Nazareth out-shot Elmira 17-7 and however the Soaring Eagles had an 8-6 advantage in penalty corners.
Winney finished the game with five saves and Lauren Thomas made nine saves for the Soaring Eagles.
Nazareth hosts its East Ave rival St. John Fisher on October 17th for a 6 p.m. game.
