Nazareth competes at RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth's men's and women's track and field teams finished strong at the RIT Tiger Invitational this Saturday at RIT's Gordon Field House.

Senior Kristi Custer tied for second place in the women's triple jump. Custer joined Utica College's Jess Ciraulo in reaching a distance of 10.41 meters (34 feet, 2 inches). She placed behind Houghton College's Alyssa Figeuora (10.83m). Custer also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, completing the race in 10.19 seconds for fourth place.

In the 3000 meter run, juniors Kelsey Ryan and Katie Mutter finished in 11th and 15th place respectively. Ryan's finish time was 11:20.81, while Mutter finished the race in 11:48.68.

Junior Katie Wyant competed in the 800-meter run and finished ninth in 2:33.11. She was followed by junior Lauren Jamieson in 13th place (2:38.21), freshmen Michaela Gildemeyer in 14th place (2:38.38), and freshman Nicole Greer in 21st place (2:59.74).

In the mile run, Jamieson secured an eighth place finish for the Golden Flyers in 5:41.90. She was followed by Gildemeyer in 15th place (5:55.16).

Sophomore Jake Lafaver was Nazareth's top finisher on the men's side with a second-place finish in the 400meter dash in :52.41. Junior  Phil Schierer (52.55) and senior Dan Polino (53.72) finished in fourth and 10th place respectively.

In the men's 3000-meter race, senior Peter Fekete finished in 14th place in 9:34.69. Sophomore Zach Lafaver was fourth in the 500-meter dash in 71.30.

The men's and women's track and field teams will compete again Jan. 21 at the Hamilton Invitational.
