CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Nazareth dropped a pair of women's volleyball matches Saturday during the second day of the Red Dragon Invitational hosted by SUNY Cortland. The end result was that the Golden Flyers finished fourth with a 2-2 record in the 12-team event.
In the first match, tournament champion Cortland defeated Nazareth in three sets (25-16, 25-21, 25-20). Later in the day, Nazareth squandered a two-set lead against Rochester to lose in five sets (25-16, 25-19, 15-25, 20-25, 11-15).
Against Cortland Amy Johnson lead the way with six aces and five kills for Nazareth. Leah Farrell also contributed eight digs, while Brittany Crocetti had 26 assists and Ashlee Travis tallied 5 kills.
In the second match, Johnson paced Nazareth with 15 kills and 4 aces. Brittany Crocetti had 37 assists for the Golden Flyers while Maria Allocco had 7 kills and 2 blocks. Leah Farrell also had 17 digs in the match. Junior Aubrey Cooke represented the Golden Flyers on the all-tournament team.
Nazareth has a home match Wednesday against Geneseo at 7 p.m. The Golden Flyers also host a tournament Friday and Saturday.
