Flyers win twice at E8 Crossover

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Nazareth secured two more women's volleyball wins Sunday as the Golden Flyers completed the second day of competition at the Empire 8 Conference Crossover weekend at Elmira's Speidel Gymnasium.

Nazareth took three of four matches all told for the weekend and improved to 10-7 overall. On Sunday, Nazareth swept Stevens and Alfred in three sets each. Stevens scores were 25-14, 25-18, 27-25. Alfred scores were 25-20, 25-13, 25-15. St. John Fisher hosts the second crossover weekend Oct. 21-22.

In the first match against Stevens, freshman Chelsea Beecher had eight kills in 24 swings for a .250 hitting percentage. Freshman Katherine Race had two service aces and 18 digs. Junior setter Brittany Crocetti added 29 assists and four kills and senior Ashlee Travis contributed six kills.

Against Alfred, sophomore Alli DeCory amassed 18 digs and senior Ashley Gallagher had five kills in 11 attempts for a .455 hitting percentage to go with five blocks. Travis added seven kills and junior Aubrey Cooke had 29 assists and six digs.

Nazareth's next match is Tuesday at home against Fredonia at 7 p.m.
