Nazareth splits two at E8 Crossover

Golden Flyers play Stevens, Alfred Sunday

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Nazareth split a pair of Empire 8 Conference matches Saturday in women's volleyball as the Golden Flyers competed in the first of two conference crossover weekends.

Nazareth outlasted Ithaca in a five-set match Saturday morning (21-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-16, 15-9) before falling to Elmira in three sets in the afternoon match (25-20, 25-13, 25-12). Play resumes Sunday with Nazareth playing Stevens at 9 a.m. and Alfred at 11:30 a.m. St. John Fisher hosts the second crossover weekend Oct. 21-22.

In the Ithaca match, freshman Chelsea Beecher paced the Golden Flyers with 14 kills while senior Leah Farrell added 13 kills and 26 digs. Junior Aubrey Cooke had 25 assists.

Against Elmira, senior Ashlee Travis had five kills and freshman Katherine Race had 14 of the team's 31 digs. Junior Brittany Crocetti had 25 assists.
