Nazareth tops Elmira, 4-1

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Junior Kailee O'Hara had one goal and one assist and junior Lindsey Smith added a pair of assists Saturday as visiting Nazareth secured its first Empire 8 Conference field hockey win of the season with a 4-1 victory over Elmira.

Nazareth evened its Empire 8 Conference record at 1-1 and improved its overall mark to 2-5. Elmira dropped to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in E8 action.

First-half goals by seniors Jordan Mitchell and Lindsey Wagner and O'Hara lifted Nazareth to a 3-1 advantage in the first 35 minutes. Smith assisted on the first two goals, while senior Nina Fargnoli assisted O'Hara.

In the second half, sophoore Alexis Root scored for the Golden Flyers with O'Hara assisting.

Nazareth travels to Brockport Tuesday for a 4 p.m. game.
