Nazareth blanked at Skidmore, 6-0

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Fifth-ranked Skidmore dominated visiting Nazareth in a non-conference field hockey match Sunday as the Thoroughbreds scored three rimes in each half for a 6-0 victory.

Skidmore improved to 6-0 overall with its 22nd consecutive home-field win. Nazareth, which lost a tough 4-3 decision at home to Ithaca Saturday, is 1-4.

Ceilidh MacNeill scored two goals for Skidmore, including one with just :01 left in the first half to five the home team an insurmountable 3-0 advantage. Lauren Tobias and Annie Rosencrans each added one goal and one assist.

Haley McDougall earned her second shutout of the season, making two saves. Freshman Shannon Winney made 14 saves for Nazaretyh, playing 60:10 in her first collegiate start. Freshman Sophia Rhoades stopped all three shots she faced in the final 9:50.

Skidmore outshot Nazareth, 31-4 and held an 18-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Nazareth plays at home Wednesday against Houghton in a non-conference game at 6 p.m.
