ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth dropped two matches during the second day of the Golden Flyer Invitational, hosted by Nazareth. The Golden Flyers fell in three sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-12) to Mt. Union in their first match Saturday. Seventeenth-ranked NYU rallied to down Nazareth in four sets (20-25, 29-27, 25-19, 25-19) in the Golden Flyers' second match of the day. Freshman
Maria Allocco was named to the all-tournament team.
Following the losses, Nazareth drops to 4-5 overall, including 1-3 in this weekend's matches. Mount Union finished the tournament with a 3-1 record and a 7-2 overall mark. NYU concluded the weekend with a 1-3 record and 5-3 overall mark.
Against NYU, junior
Amy Johnson tallied a team-high 11 kills, followed by freshman
Chelsea Beecher with eight kills. Junior
Brittany Crocetti recorded 12 digs and a team-high 30 assists while senior
Leah Farrell amassed a team-high 19 digs. Junior
Aubrey Cooke had 13 digs and chipped in 13 digs.
Sarah Buckingham accumulated a match-high 21 kills to lead the Violets. Alex Mao added 14 kills, and Hope Bogle tallied a match-high 43 assists . Kaylee Schanda finished the match with a match-high 29 digs.
Against Mt. Union, Johnson and freshman
Maria Allocco each tallied eight kills to lead Nazareth. Cooke and freshman
Olivia Harrigan added four kills apiece. Farrell recorded 10 digs while Crocetti finished with 15 assists.
Taylor Webb recorded a match-high 15 kills for Mt. Union, and Julie Radigan amassed a match-high 29 assists. Kristen Gromes finished with a team-high 10 digs.
The Golden Flyers are in action again September 16th and 17th when they travel to the RIT Tournament.
