Flyers compete at Geneseo

Niebuhr wins high jump

GENESEO, N.Y. -- Sophomore Mindy Niebuhr finished first in the high jump Saturday for Nazareth as the Golden Flyers continued their outdoor track and field season at the Geneseo Invitational.

Niebuhr cleared 1.53 meters or the equivalent of 5 feet, 1/4 inch and was Nazareth's lone first-place finisher. Senior Kristi Custer competed in four events and placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 10.62 meters (34 feet, 10 1/4 inches). She also finished sixth in the 100-meter dash (:13.27); eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.16) and ninth in the 200-meter dash (:27.46).

Senior Alexis Hoffman placed third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:12.97) and freshman Bethany Atlhaus was fourth in the 5,000-meter run (19:32.16). Other competitiors included sophomore Katie Wyant, who finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:02.43) and eighth in the 200-meter dash (:27.38) and sophomore Lauren Jamieson, who was sixth in the 1,500-meter run (5:03.48).

In the men's meet, junior Dan Polino was seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 12.14 meters (39 feet, 10 inches) and 11th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.;10). Freshman Zach Lafaver was eighth in the 400-meter dash (:53.16) and his twin brother Jake Lafaver was ninth in the 800-meter run (1:59.00). Senior Matt Morales ran 13th in the 5,000-meter run (15:57.92).
